PUBLIC HEALTH MAJOR (832, 832D) AND MINOR

Public Health Major (46 credits)

The major in public health prepares students for entry-level careers in population health and disease prevention. Public health professionals perform a wide range of services in areas such as infectious disease control, community health promotion, health monitoring and surveillance, environmental and occupational health, and emergency preparedness.

Our students learn to apply evidence-based decision-making to address the social and structural determinants of health. The program emphasizes policy, equity, and systems-level change, equipping students to approach population health challenges through a public policy lens. The public health major culminates in the Leadership Seminar and Professional Practice Internship, in which students apply what they’ve learned and hone the skills necessary to succeed in diverse public health and health-adjacent careers.

Upon completion of all degree requirements, students are awarded the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Public Health.
